The Engineering Information and Technology Section provides accurate and comprehensive infrastructure and mapping information for the City/Town and is responsible for the development and implementation of related information systems technology.

Major initiatives include completion of infrastructure mapping for City underground utilities, updating and converting existing engineering information databases and providing access to them on the network, maintaining the AutoCAD system to meet the demands of a wide variety of users (inside and outside the department), commencing the use of GIS systems to tie together digital mapping and database records, completing the final details of the digital cadastral map, reviewing and updating all filing systems (both document and engineering drawings), formalizing our role as a records centre and investigating the use of the Internet for providing general user information and the distribution of maps and data.
